Mike Stone

He was a star athlete in various sports events during his student days and joined the Army after graduating from high school. It was while stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, that he met his karate instructor, Sgt. Herbert Peters, who had just returned from Okinawa. Mike started in Shorin-ryu and earned his brown belt in three months. He then established a world record for achieving his black belt rank in only six months from the day he started training. He never lost in any of his individual black belt matches as well as in kata competitions. He is recognised as the only black belt to retire undefeated with 91 consecutive black belt victories. He was inducted into Black Belt’s Hall of Fame twice as Fighter of the Year in 1971 and Instructor of the Year in 1994.

Richard Norton

Richard Norton is an undisputed legend of action cinema who remains one of the highest rated Martial Artists in his field. He even holds a unique accolade as one of the most highly regarded Westerners to work on the dynamic films of Hong Kong stars, Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung. Born and raised in Croydon, Australia, the young Richard pursued a passion in Martial Arts that would shape his life and career. He subsequently began working security at clubs before starting a long-spanning career as a bodyguard to some of the best musical artists in the world including The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Linda Ronstadt.

John Will

John Will was born on the 16th of April, 1957 in Geelong, Victoria – Australia. Though John’s father was a law enforcer, Will was bullied at school, and it was this that propelled his wish to start doing contact sports. He started wrestling at his local church club before he was introduced to the world of traditional martial arts by Tae Kwon Do, the Korean kicking based art when he was 15. He grew more and more interested in fighting sports and 3 years later he left Australia to study Pentjak Silat – more commonly known as plain “Silat”, an Indonesian Martial art. David Meyer

David Meyer was born in October 1962, in Los Angeles, California, United States. From a very young age, Meyer felt drawn to martial arts, kick starting his combat sporting life at the age of 6 with a modern form of Japanese jiu-jitsu (also known as ju-jutsu). At the time David’s brother was being bullied at school and his parents believed learning a form of self-defense would be a valid confidence booster for the two brothers. Influenced by their cousin, who was a black belt under Sensei Jack Seki, a well-known ju-jutsu instructor in the LA area, David joined Seki’s workgroup.

Paul Mracek

Paul started training in martial arts in Melbourne, Australia in 1977. He trained in both Taekwondo and Engineering at the same time and after obtaining qualifications travelled extensively in Asia and Europe; training in Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and China and studying meridian / pressure point theory and practice. Paul achieved his Master level 6th Dan in Malaysia in 2007, International Coach through OCFM in 2008 and achieved his 8th Dan in Taekwondo / TaekwonJitsu in 2016. He is a CEO, author, trainer, coach, consultant, master black belt and successful businessman, with qualifications in NLP and Hypnotherapy. Graham Slater

Graham started his martial arts training in England in 1973 inspired by Bruce Lee and the need to defend against the ever increasing, violence by gang warfare on the streets of Liverpool, UK. He started by learning from books and soon tracked down a local Goju Karate school to train at. In 1975 he immigrated to Australia with his family and quickly found a Kyokushin Karate club to train at for the next 4 years. During that time, he also trained at a Kickboxing Gym, Ken Shin Kai Karate and in Ju Jitsu with a friend. The Kyokushin club closed in 1979 and Graham moved to another club, Shotokai Karate (UK Harada Sensei style), where he achieved his black belt in 1981.... cont

Glenn Coxon

Having commenced his martial arts with Boxing at the ripe age of 7, Shihan Glenn Coxon has dedicated a lifetime to the study of the Martial Arts and has travelled extensively in the pursuit of knowledge to share and train with the best in the world of the fighting arts. In his travels he has worked with many local and international Instructors of renown such as Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez, Bill ‘Superfoot’ Wallace, Chuck Norris, Dan Inosanto, Joe Lewis, Richard Norton and many others. Competitive by nature, Shihan Glenn has been a former junior boxing champion, held numerous State and National martial arts titles and throughout his career has also promoted many of Australia’s largest martial arts and kickboxing events with record attendances and rave reviews.

Grandmaster Khor is a man of many talents, not the least of them being sublime skills, a deep well of knowledge, dedication and a great belief in the benefits of Tai Chi, Qigong, Feng Shui and associated Chinese health arts. This has given him a high ranking in the Tai Chi world, recognised not only in Australia, but also in China, where he is held in great esteem. His Tai Chi journey started many years ago – not always an easy one that has grown out of the tenacity and dedication which is forever present.

Mal was first introduced to the martial art of Aikido during the start of a clock and watchmaker apprenticeship in 1977. At that time his trade teacher, David Brown, was also one of Australia’s most senior Aikido students/instructors and Mal soon found himself studying Aikido as well under his guidance.

Grant Bannister

In 1958 Grant trained at judo for a whole year with a very experienced instructor, Wally Strauss. Grant was also a keen sailor and in 1959 won an Australian title in racing catamarans. Over the last thirty years, Grant has taught thousands of students and has had the pleasure of helping students win Australian and even world titles (Sensei Crystal ISKA world Black belt kumite 2008). He has written four goal setting books for ages three years up to fourteen years. There is another goal setting/grading book he has written for fourteen years and on. Paulo Guimaraes

Paulo is a Black Belt 5th Dan. He has 37 years Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training experience. Paulo has been a Black Belt for 20 years (since 1998). He is specialised in performance and competition training for adults and kids. Paulo is a former Brazilian Army close combat and self defence instructor – 5th Guard Company Amazon Jungle division- Military Police and Parachute troops.

Natsuko Minegishi

Natsuko Mineghishi began Karate while she was studying for her BSc(Engineering) at University of Western Australia (UWA), in the University Karate Club (UKC) with Sensei Kyoshin Kayo in 1993. Sensei Kayo is from Osaka and he teaches Shobukan style. In 1997, Natsuko moved to Melbourne to study music at University of Melbourne. There was no Shobukan style in Victoria so she needed to find a new style. It was difficult to change style when you were already comfortable with one so her pilgrimage lasted for 12 months to find what she wanted. During this period, she tried many Dojos of different styles. In 1998, she finally settled with the World Shotokan Karate with Sensei John Haitidis in Coburg. Going back to white belt again, she began to train regularly. by the time she became a 1 kyu brown belt, she trained at least 8 hours a week, sometimes 12 hours with Sensei.

John Gill

John Gill is a world self-defense champion and winner of 26 Martial arts titles including 15 world championships won at the World Championships of Martial Arts in Las Vegas run by Grandmaster Stan Witz of the International martial Arts Council (IMAC). He has competed in the over 18 yrs of age Black Belt divisions since 1999. He is a 7th Dan black belt Master instructor in Hapkido and Taekwondo and won the 2016 Action Star event guaranteeing him a role in an action martial arts movie next year with Anima studios.

Joe Thambu

In 1972, Joe Thambu Shihan began his Aikido training at the age of 11, under the tutelage of his Uncle, Thamby Rajah Sensei, the father of Aikido in Malaysia. As a teenager, Thambu Shihan studied some Kendo and Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo. In 1978, Thambu Shihan tested for his Shodan and soon after at the age of nineteen, he travelled to Australia where he began training in Aiki-Kai, whilst studying at university. After deciding he was unsuited to this, Thambu Shihan took up Ju-jitsu before beginning the first Yoshinkan Aikido dojo in Melbourne, Australia.
